Course Design:  Course Syllabus

The syllabus is an important document to both students and faculty.  The syllabus includes information about the structure of the course and about expectations not only of the materials to be used but also guidelines for course behaviors.  I have a dream that if the syllabus was simple and entertaining, the students might use it.  We created a graphic syllabus as an activity for EDU 763 Instruction Design for E-Learning.  From a student perspective, it is a quick look at topics and so is helpful in that respect.  But what happens to all of those rules and submission dates that must be made known to the student?   I have included a Prezi syllabus that is under construction at this time.  It is my attempt to create a document that might draw students to it when they have questions.   First is my graphic syllabus and then a link to the Prezi format.  
This is a sample of the syllabus presented in Prezi.  Be sure you click on the "Start Prezi" button (not the black banner with the title) in the center of the screen.  A "Google Chrome" advertisment may come up, so just X out of it to see the Prezi.  You can expand the presentation to full screen using the navigation button at the bottom right of the screen.  When you've finished viewing, use the esc key to return to the original screen. To move between segments of the presentation, use the forward and backward arrows on the bottom of the screen.  You can also drag the blue line to move to different sections of the presentation.  In the future, I would continue with information about attendance, grading policies, etc -- the usual items in a full syllabus.
