Education 763 - Instruction Design for Educators is the certificate course that guides the student through the creation of an online course. My initial thoughts about this course were that it would deal with software, video production -- those types of things. But it is a course to teach one how to design for learning -- not putting together the presentation of the course. It is the third course I've taken in the certificate course and certainly reflects the title of my website -- Expanding My Horizons.
The framework that we have used throughout the Certificate program has been constructivist theory - learning by doing. I have started to build a course to help the licensed vocation nurse begin the transition to professional nursing. I can certainly vouch for the constructivist theory as I have learned more in developing this course that I thought possible. As you move through the pages, you will see the planning phase with course thoughts, outlines with objective, and the development of details using Horton's "Absorb-Do-Connect" model. A graphic syllabus and learning guides that will be used to help the students stay on track are presented. One of the 'do' and, in this case, 'connect' activities is found on the sample learning activity page. Universal Design for Learning is presented along with my shiny new UDL Apprentice Badge. Finally is a compilation of reflections on my learning throughout this course.
