Project Description
In Edu 763, Instruction Design for E-Learning, I was introduced to methods to take an idea for a course and develop it for online presentation. The course I have chosen to develop is a course that introduces the Licensed Vocational nurse (LVN) to the role of the Registered Nurse (RN). The qualified LVN may complete an accelerated nursing educational program that allows them to take the licensure exam for registered nursing. Because of the significantly greater responsibilities of the RN, a "transition" course to help the LVN identify those responsibilities is required. My Transition to Professional Practice course is the basis for this final project.
The resources provided by Dr. Manning each week during the course have allowed me to create a beginning framework for the course that will be presented in hybrid format to our transition students. The target audience is the LVN who has at least one year of nursing practice and meets the admission requirements of the School of Nursing. Once accepted, the LVN transition student will take a standardized diagnostic examination to identify basic knowledge about nursing practice. The first course of the accelerated program will be the Transition course I've begun for this class. Included in the course is professional identity, nursing skills competency demonstration, client care planning, and healthcare organization. Each module includes resources, activities and assessments based on the objectives.
After working through the weekly activities assigned to us, I have just begun to see the pieces of the puzzle in developing the Transition course. In my reflection you will find my where I've been and where I think I'm going. I have set the pages up to logically navigate through artifacts so if you hover over the Edu 763 label, the page links will appear. In addition, sub-pages have forward and backward navigation buttons at the bottom of each page.
I hope you find the project interesting and easy to navigate.
